Tucked away on 35 acres of private land and overlooking a small swimming pond this unique cabin/treehouse is a forest paradise perfect for unwinding and escaping the chaos of city life. Willow Treehouse is its name and its located just outside Woodstock in upstate New York.
The Willow Treehouse sits looking out over the magnificent Catskills mountain range, quietly nestled within the dense woodland forest. It shares a plot of land with the owners of the cabin, whose house is on the other side of the little lake. The treehouse was designed by architect Antony Gibbon, who is currently based in Bali, and built by local builders William Johnson.
The treehouse was purposely designed to try and make the most of the elevated position on which it sits. A large opening punctures the back of the house to offer views of the nearby Catskills mountains from the timber-clad living area inside.
The interior of the cabin is comprised of a large open floor plan with a spacious living area, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a loft bedroom which is accessible by a ladder from the lounge room. A wood-lined hallway leads from the kitchen into a "box type unit" at the back of the cabin, occupied by a shower room and bathroom, and a cosy hang-out space which is the perfect place to unwind with a book.
Outside the cabin, there is a covered deck under the main house and a firewood-heated hot tub just down the hill which overlooks a small, swimmable pond.
This peaceful hideaway is located just outside the town of Woodstock, less than two hours drive from New York City. We recommend hiring a car or driving yourself if you plan to make the escape out this beautiful cabin. Public transport in the area is limited and you probably won't be able to enjoy all the delights this region has to offer if you lack easy transportation.
