Gutshaus Üselitz is a beautifully restored 16th century Renaissance manor that contains a collection of 7 vacation apartment rentals that each have their own unique personal character and charm.
Set on an island in the middle of large and elegant estate sits the 500-year-old Manor house which has been lovingly restored by the owners after it was rescued from the brink of ruin. They spared no attention to detail when undertaking the restoration and worked very hard to keep a balance between the 16th-century history whilst still trying to instil a modern touch.
Each of the 7 apartments in the manor house provide a stunning view of the surrounding landscape and the natural waterways that intertwine the estate. The outside views are truly fascinating, which is why the owners say they tried to keep the interiors simple and modern, infused with individual antiques, old books and also small peculiarities. Although there are no televisions, binoculars have been supplied in every room.
On the ground floor of the manor, you will find a kitchen, a large dining room, a fireside lounge, and a library. This part of the manor is available for guests if the whole manor is rented exclusively.
The remaining three floors are where the luxury apartments are. Two large apartments occupy the first floor, which is ideal for families vacationing together. One large and two smaller apartments are on the second floor. The third floor houses our two penthouse apartments, both of which come with a private terrace.
The owners highly recommend renting an entire floor or the whole building for larger festivities, such as family gatherings or weddings. This way groups can stay together, and yet still have some privacy.
The property is located in the south of the island of Rügen, which is in Northeast Germany. Rügen, Germany’s largest island, is located in the northeast of the country in the Baltic Sea. It is 926 square kilometres in size and pretty much contains everything you'd need for a perfect holiday: Baltic beaches as far as the eye can see, unspoilt natural surroundings and luxurious seaside resorts.
The island is also known for its pristine beaches and white chalk cliffs, like the King's Chair on the Jasmund peninsula. Rügen has been one of Germany’s most popular travel destinations for centuries; Bismarck, Sigmund Freud, Thomas Mann and even Albert Einstein all vacationed here.
Rügen can be reached by ICE train from central Berlin in only 3 and a half hours. There are services every hour or so, with 4 direct services each day. If you really want to explore highlights of Rügen, then we recommend that you try to hire a car. If you do decide to drive, then it will take around 2 hours and 45 minutes to drive from Berlin and around 3 hours if you are coming from Hamburg.
