Located on the shores of Lake Santara in southern Finland sits Mökki. With its water views and thick forest setting, this cottage makes for the perfect Finnish weekend getaway.
The Mökki (Finnish for "small cottage by the lake") is a modern spin on the simple and small lakeside huts that dot the Karelia region. The house is composed of the main house and a sauna which are connected by a spacious terrace.
With its black colour, it seems to fuse with the surroundings and when the shutters are closed it has a barn-like character, while interiors are a deliberate contrast with blonde spruce walls and floors. The floors, walls and ceilings are made of wood, but its minimalist interior design lends the house a modern look and feel throughout.
The Mökki has 2 double beds, which comfortably fit up to 4 guests. Both the main house and the sauna are equipped with wood stoves and heaters to keep you nice and toasty through the long winter. The house has a wi-fi connection, running water and electricity. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a washing machine, dishwasher, fully-equipped cooking facilities and refrigerator.
About 25 meters from the house is the lake with a swimming pontoon with a cute, little, attached rowing boat that is available for excursions and fishing on the lake.
